Compaq DLT2000 15/30 Gb tapestreamer
At the (12-02-2004)
hobbytronic
a DLT15/30 was offered for Eur 40 without the usual garantee. Paying
Eur 70 fot the both of them, (one for me, one for my friend) I started
to collect some info about this streamer.
The Compaq DEC2000 is build by Quantum and is no longer supported by
both firms.
The Tapestreamer
Since the taperstreamer is used on a linux system, of course a scsi
module is needed. SuSE 9.0 Professional identifies the tapestreamer and
automatically loads the st.o module

that means:

Some manuals
Tests
The DLT2000 has can reeds speeds upto 2.0 Mb/s writing and 2.5 Mb/s
reading. (this still has to be verified)
Buffer
Tapes
The DLT2000 is compatible with all sorts of tapes. My luck is that I
have only DLT III and DLT IIIXT tapes availlable. As you can guess,
since my tapestreamer is a 2000xt, the fastest and biggest tape is a
DLT IIIXT with a capacity of 15/30 Gb.
The other tapes that I have found are DLT III 10/20 Gb tapes. These are
a liitle bit slower.
